In situations such as respiratory distress, severe trauma, poisoning, seizures, inability to urinate, or sudden changes in consciousness, minutes can be crucial. What symptoms are urgent?
- Open-mouth breathing, cyanosis, or severe difficulty breathing
- Fainting, seizures, severe loss of balance
- Traffic accidents, falls from heights, bites, or severe bleeding
- Exposure to toxic substances, human medications, or poisonous plants
- Sudden abdominal swelling, severe pain, or persistent vomiting
- Inability to urinate, especially in male cats
- Difficulties during labor, rapid deterioration of offspring
- In birds, remaining at the bottom of the cage, swelling, and respiratory distress
Approach to critical patients
Upon patient admission, airway, breathing, and circulation are evaluated first. If necessary, oxygen, IV access, fluid support, temperature control, hemorrhage management, and pain control are implemented. Simultaneously or subsequently, blood tests, digital X-rays, ultrasonography, and rapid tests are utilized.
The body temperature, breathing, pulse, oxygenation, urination, and treatment response of critical patients are regularly monitored. Each patient's needs are different; the decision for hospitalization is made based on examination and risk level.
What should be done before coming to the clinic?
- Call in advance to inform us of the species, weight, incident, and symptoms.
- Transport the injured patient on a flat and safe surface.
- In case of poisoning, bring the packaging or the name of the product.
- Do not put your hand or any object in the mouth during a seizure.
- Do not give medication, milk, oil, or food without veterinary advice.
- Do not attempt to induce vomiting and do not force-feed a patient with altered consciousness.

No. Some substances may cause more harm to the esophagus and lungs when coming back up. Identify the substance and quickly get veterinary assistance.
